Retraining an Ex Racer

Mumaathel started out as a skinny beast with not a lot of neck line, a weak canter and not a lot of suppleness over his back. Gradually growing into a wonderfully obedient dressage horse.

At the end of 2014 he became The Chiltern Riding Club Reserve Prelim Champ.

Then 2014-2015 Season he took the Winter series Prelim Championship.

At the end of 2015 he took the Prelim Points Championship and also the RoR RC Championship

2015 We qualified at The Sparsholt Equine Centre (top two from each qualifier) for the Badminton Grassroots Prelim Championships

Really pleased with how Alfie coped warming up on the open grass (that was a first)

Some tension spoiling the overall feel of the test but we didn't disgrace ourselves with 8th Place

Celebrated with a lovely controlled canter round the grass warm up field

2014 to 2015 Race Horse to Dressage Horse Dreams are made of this: So much improvement in just one year.

RoR Qualifiers attended at East Soley, Hunter EC, Sparsholt College, and Quainton, Competing Intro B and Prelm 17 at the Championships.

2016 We went to the RoR National Show at Aintree. We won the 2015 League Points Table which qualified us for the P17 and N38 Championship Classes. We also stayed over to compete in the Nov FSM and Open Showing Classes

Mumaathel Myself and hubby had a wonderful time. Humans got a day off to go sightseeing mid show.

Aintree is a super venue filled with lots of atmosphere to soak up. We had a few tension issues throughout the show but super pleased we managed to keep it mostly together

And our amazing journey continues on.

2015 Intro A

Mumaathel Aka Alfie is an Ex Racer in his second season of Dressage this is a video of  his IA RoR Qualifier Class at East Soley.
This chap is such a pleasure to own and ride and deserves top marks for trying his heart out every outing we make with each other
Lots to work on in the walk, with good accuracy of moves, the relaxation and straightness is coming slowly.

P19 67% Judges comments at the end were fair, we did play it a little safe with not enough in the engine ! My position is improving so that's a bonus.
Excuse the circle shape at P we almost forgot the circle.... on a test day dream !

P17: The weekend throw away tests are definitely helping us ride a better test
A few wise words from the side lines I needed to hear as I walked off to the arena.. ''sit up sit still don't fiddle''
Not often I watch the video back and think, that was rather good.
My inner core needs more engagement so I don't hunch over my hands or lower my hands but the connection was so much better.

11 min progress report on our leg yield: One step closer to an Ele test
Two day clinic with Tom Graham.
Saturday using half circles and 10 m circles to test out our moving in and out of the leg yield which really improved our canter work.
Sunday taking on the turn on the forehand to help secure an improved contact. Working on ground cover and softness in all paces.
Canter so much easier than trot.. Time for rider to relax in the trot and be braver with the leg yield.
Not bad considering we were completely stuck with very little leg yield a few weeks ago
