I Thought I would resurrect the diary to show you how we are getting on and give you our real time updates
09th March: I took out one barrow load of the wet from the Ninja. He is the wet horse of the two and his stable leaks which doesn't help when it rains.
I hate leaving any dirty bed in when I dig out but its important to be strong willed and if any of the brown bedding is dry its best to leave it in and re fill the gap you have dug out forming your new capped layer base. I only disturb the soggy section of the bed the rest I leave or at a minimum take the top off to refill the section I have dug out.
The Ninja bed had three new bales. I don't normally need that many after a dig out but with the rain I did take out more wet than normal. The last bales were put in two weeks ago so still doing well on the number of bales compared to other bedding types we have used.
10th March
Coffee stays at home whilst Alfie is at a show so this morning was a quick skip out and the banks thrown up for a day bed. You certainly wouldn't notice he is standing on his capped layer
My top tip is don't skimp on the bedding. Aubiose works best for me when I have plenty of spare bedding in the banks so I can mix as I go forward.
